Watch dramatic video of Police STAR Team breaking into Sembawang flat to rescue 2-year-old boy locked inside with 39-year-old man

A 39-year-old man was arrested for wrongful confinement of a two-year-old boy as well as suspected drug-related offences today afternoon (Sep 28) at around 12pm.

Officers from Ang Mo Kio Division, the Crisis Negotiation Unit and the Special Operations Command had been in a standoff that lasted 17 hours with the man.

The boy was eventually rescued by officers who broke into the rental flat. They had climbed through a window, which was the fastest way in.

A video filmed by Stomp journalists at the scene show the officers in action and breaking into the fifth-storey flat.

The two-year-old boy was unharmed throughout the entire operation. He is currently in safe care.

Stomp understands that the boy's mother was also arrested for drug-related offences. She was reportedly involved in a dispute with the suspect before the standoff occurred.
