Cyclist finds out the road is not his grandfather's -- in the most painful way possible

One cyclist learnt to observe traffic rules the hard way.

A video posted by a netizen on Facebook page Love Cycling SG shows a cyclist getting hit by a car after riding across the road when the traffic light was not in his favour.

In the video, the car can be first seen travelling on the middle lane of a three-lane road towards a traffic junction.

The green lights were showing in the driver's favour, and he or she proceeded to go across the junction.

A cyclist however suddenly appeared in front of the car.

The driver could not press the brakes in time and hit the cyclist.

The impact caused the latter to slam onto the car's windscreen and bonnet before falling onto the road.

The car's windscreen cracked and the bicycle was sent flying a few metres in front of the car.

The cyclist sat on the road in a daze thereafter.

There was another car that had given way to the cyclist by stopping at the traffic junction.

It might have blocked the view of the cyclist, but that is not a good enough excuse to defend his reckless act.
