Earlier, it was Orchard Road. Now it is Raffles Place.

National water agency PUB is investigating a pipe leak that sent water gushing out several metres high near Raffles Place on April 27.

Stomper Pandi shared videos of huge amounts of water spraying into the air at a construction site as an excavator operated nearby.

There were a few onlookers, but since it was a Saturday, not as many people were in the area as they usually are on a work day.

In response to a Stomp query, PUB said it was alerted to the pipe leak near 24 Raffles Place between Clifford Centre and Raffles Place MRT station at 4.18pm.

"Our service crew attended to the incident promptly," said the agency.

Repairs were completed by 4am the next day and water supply to the surrounding area was not affected.

Investigations into the cause of the pipe leak are ongoing, added PUB.

A similar incident occurred earlier in the month at a construction site in Orchard Road on April 11.

In a video circulating online, water can be seen gushing out several metres high behind the hoarding of the construction site, which was part of upgrading works for *Scape.

PUB said it was investigating the cause of the leak, which occurred on a NEWater pipeline.

The scene was described as “wild wild wet”.
