Stompers are raising a stink over inconsiderate pet owners who do not pick up their dog's poo and fail to keep their pets leashed.

A Stomper shared with Stomp photos of dog poop smeared along a walkway near Block 257C Compassvale Road.

"There are flies everywhere and pee is visible at many spots too," she said.

"These owners are so irresponsible."

Another Stomper who is a resident at Pinnacle@Duxton shared a similar plight.

I've seen multiple people walking their dogs, some after cleaning their dogs and some glued to their phones and not caring about if their dog defecated outside the kindergarten on the third floor of the Pinnacle@Duxton," he said.

He told Stomp some owners walk their dogs without a leash and 'treat the children's playground as a dog park'.

He added that this is a daily occurrence around 9pm.

"I like dogs but law is law."

Under the Environmental Public Health Act, it is an offence to leave behind dogs' poo and owners who do not clean up after their pets in public areas can be fined up to $1,000.

Pet owners are advised to bring along a small plastic bag or a piece of newspaper to clear their dogs' poo and dispose of it into litter bins.

It is also good practice to bring along a bottle of water to wash away their dogs' pee on concrete surfaces in public areas.

Pet owners are also required by law to leash their dogs in public places. They can be fined up to $5,000 for failing to do so.
