400 Chinese students forced to take exam outdoors in heavy smog

The Air Quality Index (AQI) in Henan's Anyang prefecture, China has soared above 700 recently.

The local board of education has decided to cancel classes however, one middle school apparently did not get the note.

Photos have gone viral on showing middle school students taking an exam outside on a sports field in the middle of a thick smog, reports Shanghaiist.

The principal confirmed to reporters that 400 8th grade students had been made to take their exam outside.

However, the principal explained that the smog was not so "severe".

When he received notification from the board of education about cancelling classes, he finally called them off.
