I have this teacher who is quite temperamental. One day she is nice, another she is in a foul
mood. I don't know what to do because I am afraid to approach her. I don't trust her anymore and
I just keep fearing that she might flare up at me. what to do
- stumbelina
Dear Stumbelina,
I’m sorry to hear that your teacher is the temperamental sort. If that has by any chance affected
the class, I’m sure it won’t be too good.
Is there a teacher that you trust that you can speak to about this? The purpose may I highlight,
is not to complain, but to ask for advice if you are uncomfortable approaching the teacher for
help because of her temper, whether there are other teachers whom you could approach for
assistance.
All the best Sumbelina.
My friend is a self-mutilator
I know my friend keeps cutting her wrists with a penknife. I have seen the marks. She tries to
hide it from everyone by wearing long sleeves and covering them. She made me promise not to tell
anyone. What should I do? If I did tell someone, she would know I betrayed her trust. But if I
don't, I fear something terrible would happen. Help me.

Dear Jar Jar Binks,
I’m sorry to hear that your friend has been cutting herself.
Self mutilation is a very strong sign of trouble within her. She must be undergoing much
emotional trouble for this to happen.
Is there a teacher in school whom you could trust to speak to? Speak to the teacher in private,
and ask for her help that she could just notice your friends wrist and hence pop the question of
concern.
On the side, do spend more time with your friend. If during private times when it’s just the two
of you, you may also want to spark the question of your recent observation, and ask her if
something has been happening? Your sincere show of concern will definetly touch her.
Lastly, if you feel that your friend may do with some form of specialized help and she is
willing, could you recommend her to call the SOS helpline at 1800 – 221 4444 please.
