What: Reflections 2007 - Republic Polytechnic's Inaugural Community Arts Festival

Who: All arts enthusiasts from Woodlands
From 15 November to 15 December, Republic Polytechnic campus will be bustling with arts activities. From theatrical performances to hip hop dances, it promises to entertain the young and old. Reflections 2007 is RP’s inaugural community arts festival and is a part of its community outreach programme. Celebrity groups such as T’ang Quartet, The Argentine Indigenous Orchestra, Young and W!LD (a division of W!LD Rice) and Victor Khor will take centrestage. There will also be mini festivals such as Singapore’s first Gamelan Festival involving RP’s resident Gamelan group - Gamelan Asmaradana, and the inaugural Drama Festival for primary schools in the North West Zone. This Community Arts Festival, the first by RP for its neighbouring Woodlands residents and beyond include performances by artistic groups from neighbouring schools and community clubs in the North-West district.

In conjunction with the SHINE Festival, NUS Comics and Animation Society is presenting Graphite 2007 - a drawing competition for you to showcase your creativity. The theme for this year's competition is "The Musician" and there are two categories – Manga Short Story Composition & Character Design. Over $1000 in prizes are up for grabs. Hurry, put on your creative thinking caps and seize this opportunity to flaunt your artistic abilities!

Noise Singapore returns for its 3rd year and is calling for budding artists aged 25 and below to submit creative works in the categories of Art & Design Musicand Photography. Noise Singapore 2007 will tap on platforms such as the internet and the mass media to encourage youths' creative expressions. The well-received Apprenticeship Programme also presents an exclusive learning opportunity for youths to connect with the creative industries. Last year, our Noise artists worked with mentors from the art & design, music and photography industries, such as Phunk Studio's Jackson Tan, Shooting Gallery Asia's Sebastian Tan, Electrico's Desmond Goh and Peter Chadwick of Zip Design (UK).
