Mr Paul Tan, 46, was driving along Binjai Road at 1.30pm on July 6 when he saw a black car which had crashed just outside a petrol station.

He believes that the car had skidded, mounted the kerb and hit a motorcycle parked on the pavement, barely missing a petrol pump. “If the motorcycle had not been there to slow the car down, it would probably have hit Pump Number Five and caused a serious problem,” he says.

Although the station was initially cordoned off by police and Civil Defence officers, it was back in business by 2.30pm that day.

A man was assaulted at the void deck of Block 508 Hougang Avenue 10 at around noon, July 6. Police say the man, who is in his 60's, had been in a dispute with an acquaintance of his which led to the attack. He suffered minor cuts and was taken to Tan Tock Seng Hospital. He is currently in a stable condition. The assailant fled the scene before police arrived.
Mr Koh, who lived in an adjacent block, sent us this news tip via SMS.

50-year-old Mr Tien Lee had a rude shock when a metal bar flew onto his car while he was driving along the ECP. The bar, presumed to be part of the suspension system of a truck, had been lying on the road until the car in front of Mr Tien ran over it, causing it to fly up at a high velocity.

Mr Tien and his wife suffered some cuts from the shattered windscreen. The incident happened near Changi Airport, just before ECP Exit 1 leading to PIE (Jurong), a route frequented by trucks. Mr Tien says he sent in the picture to warn motorists using this stretch of road.

Every morning when she goes to work, Serene Chng, 24, passes a motorcycle parked at the carpark of Block 260 Bukit Batok East Avenue 4. She has not seen it moved from its spot for three years, and for good reason: the rusty motorcycle is missing its rear wheel.
