Should massage/beauty parlours that offer 'special' services exist in older shopping centres and void decks?

How is the anti-vice department dealing with the recent parlours that have emerged in our neighbourhoods?

Will Singapore have a low crime rate with these massage parlours around?

Perhaps ST can answer this.

Thank you for your enquiry.

May I refer to the questions raised and comment point by point:

1) Should massage/beauty parlours that offer 'special' services exist in older shopping centres and void decks?
It is a judgement call as different ones have different moral perspectives and world views. It would be undesirable if for example, there are schools and kindergartens nearby as the influence upon the young may not be positive.

2) How is the anti-vice department dealing with the recent parlours that have emerged in our neighbourhoods?
For this, it depends on which neighbourhood is involved and the question may be best channelled to the anti-vice squad of CID.

3) Will Singapore still have a low crime rate with these massage parlours around?
Again, this is speculative as crimes can come from different sources. Even without these parlours, crime rates may still increase depending on a variety of factors e.g. external crime syndicates' actions, different sources of crimes, economic conditions etc.
